Olivia Interviews: Mrs. Haake

  1. What types of classes do you teach through PRHS?

I teach Information Literacy with the seventh grade students. I also teach classes on research skills and the citation process to all grades.

 

  1. What inspired you to be a teacher?

I always wanted to work with students. I also love reading and research so teaching feels like a perfect fit.

 

  1. What is the best part about your job?

One of my favorite things about working in Park Ridge is being able to meet and teach the students as seventh graders, and then get to know them each year throughout their high school career.

 

  1. What is the biggest challenge you face being a teacher?

TIME!

 

  1. What is the greatest success you have had with teaching?

The greatest success I have experienced is receiving emails from former students telling me about how much the skills they learned in my classes helped them in college.

 

  1. What is your favorite book?

Too many to choose! My top three are The Book Thief, Where the Red Fern Grows, and 11/22/63

 

  1. How long have you been teaching?

9 years.

 

  1. What do you like to do in your free time?

I like to hike, spend time with family, friends, and my dogs. I love to read, bake, and dance in the kitchen!

 

  1. What are you looking forward to most in this 2019/2020 school year?

Getting to know the seventh graders. Also, discussing books with Book Club members!
