It was all Owls Thursday night at Doc Lewis Field, as Park Ridge dominated the Gaels from start to finish. Offensively, the Owls were firing on all cylinders, led by quarterback Cole Hughes, and running back Luke Macfie who did all the scoring for the Owls. Hughes had five total touchdowns, four rushing, one passing, and an interception on defense returned for a touchdown. That passing touchdown was a 70-yard completion to Macfie, who after breaking two tackles, took it the distance for the score.
Macfie also scored a touchdown on the ground earlier in the game. When asked about the importance of getting off to a strong start, here is what Hughes had to say: “You know man, it feels electric. Both sides of the ball were rolling, especially offensively. Defense was a little dicey with the first drive, but we came back strong. I feel ecstatic.” Park Ridge will travel to Wood Ridge next Friday, followed by a home game Thursday, September 16th against Hasbrouck Heights.
